Remove SQL Password?
I am using MS ODBC to connect to an Oracle 184.108.40.206 database with string "ORACLE" in a GIS application (ArcView). It uses the following syntax:
The password didn't work and MS ODBC prompts me to manually enter the password. I need this to be an automated process. I tried to remove the password (didn't supply one) in SQL+ but with no success:
SQL> alter user xx identified by
ERROR at line 2:
ORA-00988: missing or invalid password(s)
Can anyone suggest something? Thanks in advance!

- You can not have a user without a password, however, if your users are identified externally or identified by a 3rd party product such as Kerberos, then your users can connect without specifying their password.
The other response you got "alter user x password expire" causes the user's password to expire immediately and the user is prompted to change their password at next login.
